Do you know what\u2019s going on? It could be happening for a number of reasons, like a soybean cyst nematode infestation, but it\u2019s usually caused by different nutrient deficiencies.&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>First, remember that when soybean plants reach the beginning seed formation stage, they need a lot of key nutrients to continue developing. Anything that would limit root growth\u2014like soil that\u2019s too dry or compacted, or insects\u2014can cause a nutrient deficiency. <br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s a list of the most common nutrient deficiencies in Canada.&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>Nitrogen (N)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Because soybeans are high in protein, they need a lot of nitrogen in the early seed development stage. After the R2 growth stage, leaf chlorosis and necrosis will develop. Leaves will become brown and fall off quickly, and the lower stem\u2019s cortex will develop brown and grey streaks.
